Hobbies &
Personal Interests
Many of Ramsey's interests and hobbies involve being outdoors including gardening, canoeing, birding, backcountry camping and XC skiing.
In addition to his interest in local politics, Ramsey follows provincial and national politics. He ran In the 2018 provinical election as the NDP Candidate for Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston.
Ramsey also enjoys cooking and loves to solve a challenging crossword.
Volunteering
Volunteering has long been a major part of Ramsey's life. Some recent volunteer roles include being a co-founder of Perth Citizens for Sensible Development, Secretary of the South Lanark Community Garden, a Fundraising Committee member for Cornerstone Landing Youth Services, and a founding member of the Perth Mens' Shed.
Specific to municipal government, Ramsey chaired the Last Duel Park Advisory Committee and was a member of the Mayor's Task Force on Climate Change.
Work Experience
In June of 2026, Ramsey joined the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust as their new Executive Director. In this role he leads the organizations efforts to conserve ecologically significant lands and promote public access to and connection with nature.
From 2014 to 2024 Ramsey was the Executive Director of The Table Community Food Centre. He lead the organization through a period of significant growth and expansion, widening its positive impact in the community.
Ramsey has worked as an occasional canoe guide in Algonquin Park and in 2026 started to teach whitewater canoeing on the Madawaska River.
Prior to joining The Table, Ramsey's career was mostly in the environmental sector including working with MiningWatch Canada, Birds Canada, Mount Alison University, Ontario Parks and Parks Canada.
