Environment, Climate Change & Sustainability

As someone who has studied and worked in the environmental field for over three decades I will be a strong proponent for local initiatives that will move Perth towards a more sustainable, beautiful and affordable path of development.

What can we do?

Work with Lanark County's Climate program and Climate Network Lanark to promote energy conservation, deep energy retrofits and solar panel installation in homes and businesses.

Ensure all new or retrofitted town buildings achieve the highest levels of energy conservation and sustainability.

Establish a town forest and tree-cover plan, then work with partners like Our Perth Trees, the Ontario Tree Trust, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and Trees Canada to implement it.

Promote the awareness of our local environment through special events, celebrations and educational programming in cooperation with local conservation groups and Murphy's Point Provincial Park.

Implement priority components of the town's Active Transportation Plan

Promote and enforce organic waste separation from municipal waste streams including multi-unit residential, commercial, industrial and institutional operations.
